Little Bulb Theatre from England is a guest company at Theatre Passe Muraille. Do not miss their show Crocosmia.
My dictionary tells me that crocosmia is a hearty variety of the iris family that can also be unruly. This devised show is everything that the flower is – sweet, tender, whimsical, and sad.
We meet the Brackenberg children. Twins Finnley and Sophia are 10, and sister Freya is 7, and we watch them play games. But these are special games, because they are about coping with the loss of their parents who were killed in a car accident.
At the centre we have the wonderful imagination of children, and the cast’s portrayal of these youngsters is a marvel. We see the family through their innocent eyes – the loving parents and the happy home.
The imaginative staging mirrors the innocence and resilience of these children. I was profoundly moved.
Crocosmia continues at Theatre Passe Muraille until Apr. 24.
