The great violinist Moshe Hammer celebrated his 75th birthday on March 29th.
Born in Budapest, raised in Israel, and a Canadian citizen for the last 45 years, his studies took him across the globe as a young musician, training at Julliard, and The Rubin Academy in Tel Aviv. He’s also worked alongside Jascha Heifetz (Yasha Heifetz) in Los Angeles and Yehudi Menuhin in the UK. During his career, the award-winning soloist has toured the planet. Moshe served as concertmaster of the Calgary Philharmonic, concertmaster of the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, and principal violin of the Canadian Chamber Ensemble. He was also a founding member of the Amadeus Ensemble.
His passion for music education brought him to York University, and then founding the non profit charity, The Hammer Band, providing instruments and music instruction to thousands of children in this country.
Moshe has also been an integral part of Marilyn Lightstone’s Vision TV series, Your All Time Classic Hit Parade.
