LEGENDARY CANADIAN RADIO BROADCASTER BILL ANDERSON DIES AT 77

It was hard saying goodbye to him the first time last year.

It is even harder saying goodbye again now.

A stalwart mainstay of The New Classical FM for over 25 years, legendary radio broadcaster Bill Anderson has died.

With a career spanning nearly six decades, beginning back in the 1960s, Bill worked at a number of notable Toronto radio stations since 1972.

Highlights of Bill’s career include the following:

Radio/TV Arts Course at Ryerson
Full time 1965 in Barrie, then Sydney, N.S., then Hamilton
Rock n’ Roll DJ in Montreal (as Rik Shaw)
Toronto market since 1972 – 15 years at CFRB 1010
Classical FM since 1995 – 96.3 Toronto, 103.1 Cobourg and 102.9 Collingwood where Bill’s Classical Jukebox originated in 2017
Produced and hosted “Big Country” – National country music radio syndication for 12 years
Canadian Country Music Association Hall of Fame 1998

Bill Anderson had been an integral part of Classical FM starting in 1995 until he retired in October of 2021.

Survived by his wife Sharon and his children and grandchildren, Bill Anderson passed away Tuesday January 25th in Collingwood at the age of 77.
