Violist Keith Hamm discusses the new release from Rosebud String Quartet on The Oasis

Station Blog2023-1-17By: Mark Wigmore

Violist Keith Hamm, a native of Rosebud, Alberta, is a dedicated and accomplished chamber musician. He has performed as principal violist for both the Canadian Opera Company and the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.

Keith also teaches viola and chamber music at the University of Alberta and MacEwan Conservatory of Music. He has given classes in viola and chamber music at the Glenn Gould School, University of Toronto, and Mount Royal University.

We welcomed Keith to The Oasis to discuss his life and career, as well as the new release from the Rosebud String Quartet, a group that he formed with other principal players from the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, the COC and the National Ballet of Canada.

The Rosebud String Quartet is one of Canada’s most dynamic ensembles with a unique voice and a deep love for the music of Haydn.

Their latest release looks at late works from both Haydn, and one of his great admirers, Mozart.
