COC General Director Perryn Leech returns to The Oasis to discuss The Marriage of Figaro & Salome!

Mark Wigmore welcomed COC General Director Perryn Leech back to The Oasis to discuss two brilliant new shows coming to the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts! On the night before the wedding, what could possibly go wrong? Just about everything in The Marriage of Figaro by W.A. Mozart. When a rich Count attempts to seduce his wife’s chambermaid just 24 hours before she  walks down the aisle, Susanna and her fiancé Figaro join forces with the spurned Countess to deliver an  unforgettable lesson in love. The satisfyingly subversive story of servants toppling nobility fittingly debuts at the Canadian Opera Company on the master composer’s birthday, with The Marriage of Figaro running for eight performances at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts on January 27, 29, February 2, 4, 10, 12, 16,  and 18, 2023.

The other show, Salome, is directed by acclaimed Canadian artist and filmmaker Atom Egoyan. Salome is the story of a dance – perhaps the most famous one in history, which precedes a macabre kiss and untimely demise. The ground-breaking thriller that’s shocked audiences since its 1905 world premiere  has been transformed into a powerful fusion of opera, dance, and film, starring Canadian soprano Ambur Braid in  the demanding title role. Salome runs for seven performances at the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing  Arts on February 3, 5, 9, 11, 17, 19, and 24, 2023.
