Rose Napoli joins Classical Jukebox to discuss “Mad Madge”
Daniel spoke with Rose Napoli, Canadian actress and playwright, to tell us about her upcoming run of shows about the life of Lady Margaret Cavendish.
“Mad Madge”, takes place April 9th-21st at the Theatre Centre (Franco Boni Theatre), 1115 Queen St West, Toronto.
Rose’s original work paints an authentic yet highly comedic and entertaining picture of the life of Lady Margaret Cavendish, who was a philosopher, poet and playwright in the 17th century. She is largely unknown for being the first woman to write a novel of science-fiction and is a figure years ahead of the time in which she lived.
Paying homage to Jane Austen and Tina Fey in the same breath, this laugh-out-loud contemporary period mashup suggests that perhaps a woman’s hunger for unbridled attention is not so shallow, after all.
